Job Description - Principal Primary Design Engineer (262677)Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Primary Systems)UGLS Utilities team designs, constructs and maintains critical infrastructure across the power, water and renewable sectors. Ranging from HV Substations and Transmission Lines up to 500kV to power stations and wastewater treatment plants.UGL is currently looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Primary Systems) to become a key member of the Power Utilities teams based in Sydney/Brisbane or Melbourne. You will be responsible for providing detailed designs, developing specifications and interfacing with management on design issues.About the RoleThe Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Primary Systems) will be responsible for:Provide conceptual and detailed design of HV Substations up to 500kV for major utilities and renewables projects including BESS, solar and wind farms.Develop specifications and interface with management on design issues.Plan and conduct professional engineering works.Attend site, supplier or customer premises to ascertain or confirm project requirements.Substation Configuration and Busbar Config (Single, double, 1.5CB scheme, etc.).Plant layouts, sections, and details, Busbars and Connections.Clearances and Layouts (Safety, Fire, Transportation and Maintenance) / Underground Services / Earthing design.HV cable design/Lightning protection study/EMF and Corona study/Lighting design.Preparation of HV equipment/Buildings specification and technical particulars.Knowledge on BESS, Solar and Wind farms and their requirements.Knowledge on system planning, fault calculation, Power quality and Harmonics.About You4 year degree qualification to Bachelor status in electrical engineering.10+ years experience at a senior level with substation design and/or primary design of HV plants.Fundamental understanding of primary design.Expertise in substation design and/or utility grid connections.Detailed knowledge of electrical distribution design and relevant Australian standards.High-level communication and stakeholder management skills.Professional level knowledge of Cymcap, EMTP and CDEGS design software.Chartered Status including PREV, RPEQ, NER & CPEng is desirable.What we offerDiverse opportunities to grow, back yourself and achieve.Competitive group remuneration and benefits including health and wellbeing program.A culture that values diversity and innovation.What makes you right for UGLGenuine concern for safety.Capacity to flourish in a high-performance environment.An innovative mindset and a willingness to challenge the norm.About UsUGL is well-known for providing end-to-end engineering, construction and maintenance services across various sectors.
