Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Lead, this full-time position provides support and leadership to the Councils business units. As the Communications Officer, youll work with an experienced team of marketing and communication practitioners to create and execute evidence-based strategies that support business goals. You will develop compelling content, manage impactful campaigns, and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Working across digital, print, video, social media, and eDM, you will ensure our messages are clear, consistent, and reflect the needs of our vibrant community. The key focus areas of this role include: Developing and executing communication strategies aligned with council objectives. Delivering high-quality marketing and communication initiatives across paid, earned, and owned channels to promote positive awareness of Council programs. Creating content for email newsletters, social media, and other channels, including news stories, ad copywriting, coordinating photography, drafting scripts, and producing videos. Publishing content to the website. Coordinating high-quality eDM publications that drive engagement and deliver on business objectives. Measuring the effectiveness of campaigns and publications, reporting results to senior management. Editing and proofreading a range of assets and publications. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Proactively identifying opportunities for improving systems and streamlining processes. Supporting emergency communication efforts during natural disasters or unexpected events. Managing administration tasks such as schedules, content calendars, filing, uploading photography, and database updates. About you: What you will bring to our team: Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing. A talent for writing, editing, and creating engaging content. Ideally hands-on experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Campaign Monitor). Ideally some experience in producing video. Some experience with content management systems and analytics platforms to manage and track campaign performance and optimize strategies. Confidence in building and maintaining relationships. A meticulous approach to proofreading and ensuring accuracy across all communications. A proactive attitude with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines.
