Job Description - Associate: Tax (240001M1)Associate: Tax Our opportunityAre you ready to make your mark as part of the Tax team in our Melbourne or Sydney Office?As an Associate, you will have good judgment, excellent analytical skills, and the intellectual rigor to provide high level advisory services on some of Australias largest transactions and specifically stamp duty advice to large multinational, listed and private company groups. You will possess a good working knowledge of Australian tax law and experience in working with energy clients or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.Our Global Tax Practice delivers comprehensive legal services on a broad spectrum of tax-related matters to multinational corporations and financial institutions. We offer strategic advice on domestic and international tax planning, structuring and compliance. Our team assists clients with mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing, tax disputes and litigation, and cross-border transactions, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws. We also provide guidance on tax-efficient investment structures and the tax implications of various business decisions. By leveraging our extensive knowledge of global tax regulations and practices, we help clients minimize tax liabilities, navigate complex tax issues, and achieve their financial and business objectives.At White & Case, well support you, give you responsibility and welcome you as an integral member of our diverse, international team from day one. We foster a collegial working environment where partners are friendly and accessible, and colleagues always supportive and open to questions.Key responsibilitiesAs a senior member of the team, you will be involved in:Providing expert advice on State and Territory stamp duty matters across a variety of transactions, including property acquisitions, corporate restructures and asset sales and be expected to manage the stamp duty aspects of major transactions.Assisting with due diligence processes, identifying, and managing stamp duty related risks.Drafting and reviewing transaction documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable stamp duty laws.Liaising with State and Territory revenue authorities on transactions, rulings, exemptions, and disputes.Staying updated on legislative changes and developments in stamp duty laws across all Australian jurisdictions.Collaborating with other practice areas, such as the project, corporate, property and finance teams to deliver integrated client solutions.The skills and attributes we are looking forDegree qualified.Considerable experience in understanding and applying stamp duty legislation across various Australian States and Territories.Ideally worked in indirect tax or stamp duty teams either within a law firm or a Big 4 environment.A collaborative and team-based approach to working is a must.Strong professional presence.Client service focus.Strong judgment.Proactive, resourceful, takes initiative.Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects.What We OfferAt White & Case, you can make a real difference, work on cutting-edge deals that make the headlines and help shape the world we live in.
