Position: Assistant Project ManagerDivision: Lumin8 Transportation TechnologiesLocation: Burlington, North CarolinaRegion: EasternSUMMARYThe Assistant Project Manager (APM) is responsible for assisting the ITS Project Manager (PM) with the of contractual documents such as but not limited to Task and Work Orders, subcontract agreements, drawings, performance monitoring reports, monthly invoicing and SOP's as required by the customer (including the North Carolina Department of Transportation - NCDOT), contractual requirements and company policies & procedures, within the projectcontract prescribed time frame and budget.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The position will require travel throughout the state in which the individual is based and may be required for other assignments that may be outside the state, including but not limited to training and periodic program support.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Working with the PM, project staff and Subcontractors, the APM will identify and develop detailed estimates, task and work orders for internal and external stakeholders.Ensure estimates, task and work orders, subcontract agreements, and assorted contract reporting requirements are maintained.Prepare and document all meeting agendas and minutes as directed by the PM.Assist the PM in monitoring and oversight of the performance and safety requirements of the assigned contract.Assist the PM in the monitoring and review of task and work orders, material warehousing and inventory, performance-based payment and preventive maintenance documentation submitted by the subcontractors including the quality assurance confirmation of documentation and field activities, as may be required.Manage the parts warehousing and inventory system to include inventory counts and inspection, quarterly (minimum 10%) inventory confirmation and annual full inventory reconciliation.Developreview of monthly performance reporting to be used in project invoicing and performance evaluation.Assist in the development of project budget, costs and job estimates, schedule, and plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, risk assessment, contingency plans, and allotment of resources for each phase of the project.Assist in managing contractsproject activity and status to ensure compliance with internal and external project and contractual obligations.Assist in the development and regular periodic revision of standard operating procedures.Assist in the management of customer expectations on deliverables.Develop and mentor personnel such as Project Coordinator(s), Foremen, Technicians, etc. to prepare them for future professional growth.The position requires availability after normal business hours based upon workload or customer requirements.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSEB.S. in Management or Engineering Degree or related field. PE, or EIT with a goal to obtain a PE, is preferred.Four (4) years or more experience in technical management (Applied Technology andor Systems focused) experience.Eight (8) years of progressive experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems Installation andor Maintenance can substitute of a B.S degree.Understanding the practical applications of Engineering Science and Technology applying principles, techniques, procedures and methods to the design, installation, and maintenance of field deployed systems.Transportation Technology experience is preferred with experience in the following technologiesproducts: CCTV, VMSDMS, Communications NetworkingFiber, Ramp Meter Systems, Traffic Detectors, and other intrusive and non-intrusive products.Effective communication skills both verbal and puter skills (MS Office Suite and Windows Operating Systems)KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSAbility to read, interpret, modify, or create project specific documents such as technical, operational, maintenance and procedure documentation.Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to work in the field at the site of ongoing projects, as needed to meet project or program goals.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
