Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Strategic Innovation Director.The Strategic Innovation Director supports strategic objectives by researching and testing innovations related to strategically defined focus areas. Accountable for determining the feasibility and viability of innovation concepts to include early-stage research, ideation, design, incubation, prototyping, piloting, developing a business case andor partnering leadership for innovation efforts.RequirementsWe know what it means to serve This singular mission requires a dedication to innovative thinking at every level. We embrace a robust workforce.TASKS:Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job roleEnsures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlledFollows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activitiesConducts quality reviews and observes team members in the development and delivery of their work; delivers coaching and on the job training; leads team in resolution of project level challengesIdentifies strategic business opportunities and exercises a disciplined thought process to evaluate the problem statement and possible solutionsDelivers a work product which is a qualified concept with a formal recommendation to Strategy partners to pursue or not pursueDetermines and launches the incubation approach through experiments to test assumed business value for new opportunities (technology, channel, etc...), which includes coordination with internal business partners and securing fundingAssesses feasibility and viability by evaluating whether the concept is technically and legally possible, and within realm of affordabilityTests for market need and interestMay serve as a process owner for business deliverableServes as a consultant to executive management on innovation issues. Assists unit director with managing workloads and resource planning; coordinates executive level communications8 years of experience in a business andor staff function such as property and casualty, banking, or financial services that includes 4 years of experience leading and launching innovative solutions, leading wide-ranging, diverse, and matrixed functional roles, managing IT backlogs and releases, andor executing effective solutions against a problem set.Demonstrated problem solving abilities, experience with human centered design practices, agile, or a lean start-up project approach.Detail oriented with a strong ability to manage and execute multiple competing projects across multiple business areas or external parties.Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders from all levels of executive management an on an Enterprise-wide basis.Advanced knowledge of project-based methodologies such as Agile, Lean Start Up, Scrum, Portfolio Management, and tools such as Jira, Asana, Tableau, Salesforce, Rally, and Clarity.Ability to effectively connect cross-functionally throughout the organization.Subject matter expert level of business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience bringing new business models, new technology andor new data to market.Experience collaborating with experts to align business capability with technical and information needs.Experience leading matrixed teams to achieve a desired business result.The above description reflects the details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and should not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be performed in the job.BenefitsCompetitive compensationEmployees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the of Directors.
