Ensures patient and family-centered quality care to improve outcomes and patient experience, in accordance with applicable NYC Health + Hospitals policies and procedures, state and federal rules and regulations, and nursing standards of care.General Summary:In collaboration with an assigned attending psychiatrist performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and renders psychiatric services to provide comprehensive patient care within their scope of practice.Duties and Responsibilities:1. Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adult patients to include the mental status exam and formulated diagnosis2. Order appropriate laboratory studies3. Prescribes medications as allowed by New York law4. Formulates a plan of care within the context of nurse practitioner guidelines or after consultation with the collaborative or attending psychiatrist5. Provides other psychiatric services to include individual and family therapy as appropriate6. Records and documents data necessary to maintain and coordinate psychiatric care7. Communicate the patient's plan of care with appropriate disciplines8. Practices in accordance with the standards of professional behavior and patient-centered care set by Lincoln Hospital.Minimum Qualifications1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse; and 2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and3. A current certification issued by the State Education Department to prescribe medication.For Assignment to Nurse Practitioner (Primary CareBehavioral Health)1. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements of Nurse Practitioner, must be assigned to a Primary Care or PsychiatricBehavioral Health setting.Special Note: Consistent with the Nurse Practitioners Modernization Act, experienced Nurse Practitioners with at least 3,600 qualifying work hours may choose to practice under collaborative relationships with one or more qualified physicians or a New York State Health Department licensed health care facility instead of under a written practice protocol agreement.
